50,224 new infections on Saturday; India’s COVID-19 casecount climbs to 7.86 million

India reported 50,224 fresh COVID-19 positive incidences on Saturday pushing farther the cumulative caseload to 78,63,892. According to the Health Ministry, the active COVID-19 infections in the country currently adds up to 6,68,273. The number of patients recovered from the disease has risen to 70,75,723 with 62,154 patients getting cured/discharged yesterday. The number of fatalities due to pandemic mounted to 1,18,567 in all with 575 recent death reported in the past 24 hrs.

Maharashtra’s COVID-19 tally on Saturday increased to 16,38,961 with 6,417 new cases. The number of active COVID-19 infections in the state stood at 1,40,194. A total of 10,004 patients were discharged during the day, taking the reported cumulative recoveries to 14,55,107. The state reported 137 deaths, taking the toll to 43,152.

Mumbai city reported 1,257 positive cases, which pushed its overall case count to 2,50,059, while its death toll rose to 10,059 of which 50 were reported on Saturday. The state has so far conducted 85,48,036 tests.

Andhra Pradesh reported 3,342 new COVID-19 infections and 22 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 8,04,026 and toll to 6,566. The active cases under treatment stood at 31,469. The number of recoveries also increased to 7,65,991, with 3,572 new recoveries in the last 24 hours. According to the state health ministry, the recovery rate in the state has increased to 95.26%, while the death rate remained unchanged at 0.82%.

As many as 73,919 new samples were tested in the past day, with the positivity rate of 4.46% .

Karnataka on Saturday added new COVID19 incidences below 5,000 mark reaching 4,471 as previously observed in August. The test positivity rate for the day was 3.97%. The state’s overall case tally inched close to 8 million mark with 7,98,378 cases of which the active infections added up to 86,749. There were 52 fresh deaths. As many as 1,12,545 tests were conducted in the state including 90,564 rapid antigen tests over a 24-hour period, said the state health ministry.

Tamil Nadu’s daily count of COVID-19 cases dipped below 3,000 mark on Saturday with a total of 2,886 persons testing positive. The state’s tally stood at 7,06,136. In the last 24 hours, 80,237 samples were tested. With this, the total number of samples tested in the state to date totalled 94,36,817.

Kerala reported 8,253 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, testing 67,593 samples. The overall case tally stood at 3,86,088 with 97,418 active infections. The total recoveries have reached 2,87,261 with 6,468 patients reportedly recovering from the infection. The state added 25 deaths to its COVID-19 toll on Saturday pushing the total fatalities to 1,307.
